Extract listening audio from a TS recording
A TS file is a transport-stream recording that can carry video and audio. Extracting MP3 is useful when you need only the soundtrack from a recorded talk, event, or other material you are allowed to process. The MP3 output contains sound without the source video.
TS and MP3: a broadcast stream versus an audio file
TS means Transport Stream, a container defined in the MPEG-2 standards for carrying media in packets. It is used in broadcasting and streaming, where picture, sound and sometimes multiple programs need to travel together. That flexibility is useful for transmission, but a .ts recording is not as convenient as a standalone audio file for everyday listening.
MP3 comes from MPEG Audio Layer III. It stores compressed audio without video, trading some sound information for a smaller, widely playable file. It suits listening to a recorded program, but does not retain the video, broadcast structure or every track in the source.
Convert a complete TS recording when you want a listening copy. A short TS file may be only one segment of a stream: converting it does not retrieve missing segments or join the rest of the program. Check that the output contains the audio you intended to keep.
Audio copy, video copy or stream segment?
| Your goal | What to prepare |
|---|---|
| Listen to a recorded program | Use a complete, playable TS recording and convert it to MP3 here. |
| Keep the picture | Choose TS to MP4 instead of an audio-only output.TS to MP4 |
| Combine downloaded segments | Assemble the recording first with an appropriate media tool. A batch here produces separate files. |
Check the program and soundtrack before converting
Upload an actual media recording
This converter expects a .ts media file, not a TypeScript source file or a streaming playlist URL. A shared extension does not mean that those files contain audio that can be converted.
Check the selected soundtrack
Transport streams may contain several audio tracks or programs. Listen to the result to confirm the expected language and content. Do not assume every source track is preserved in one MP3.
Review recording gaps
A broadcast capture can contain interruptions or damaged segments. Conversion cannot reconstruct missing audio. Compare the output duration and listen around known breaks before sharing the finished file.
How to convert TS to MP3 online
Choose Speech / Podcast for spoken material or Recommended for mixed audio. Convert a short representative recording, check its sound and duration, and then save a recipe for recurring recordings from the same source.
The free allowance is 2 files per batch, up to 100 MB each, and 20 conversions per 24 hours. No account or watermark. Files are uploaded for server-side processing, then scheduled for deletion after 24 hours on the Free plan.
Turn regular recordings into listening copies
Save an MP3 recipe for complete recordings from the same receiver. When the broadcaster or recording source changes, check that the result contains the intended language and full program.
A free account includes 1 saved conversion recipe. Paid plans add larger batches, more recipes and delivery to Google Drive or Dropbox after you start each batch.
