MOV and MP4: production flexibility versus everyday delivery
MOV uses Apple’s QuickTime container format. It can store different kinds of video and audio, from phone recordings to high-quality editing exports. This flexibility is useful in production, but a MOV may be large or contain codecs that a website or recipient cannot play.
MP4 is the MPEG-4 Part 14 container standardized by the MPEG group. It is common for sharing and publishing, especially with H.264 video and compatible audio. Neither MOV nor MP4 defines one fixed quality level: the codecs, bitrate and source determine much of the result.

Match the destination
For browser playback, client review, or a platform upload, use only the resolution and frame rate the destination needs. Extra pixels and frames increase cost without improving every viewing context.
