PNG is commonly used for graphics, screenshots, and images that need transparency or lossless storage. JPEG is a practical output for photographs and broadly compatible images with compact file sizes.
JPEG does not support transparency, so transparent areas need a background color. Apply the same dimensions and output settings across the batch to create consistent delivery files.
Process an occasional batch without a watermark or account. Create a free account to save one setup as a recipe, or upgrade for more recipes and automatic delivery to Google Drive or Dropbox.
PNG to JPEG is most useful when the source is a photograph, a large screenshot, or another image that does not need transparency. JPEG is widely accepted by websites, email tools, marketplaces, and older content systems, and it can be substantially smaller than a photographic PNG.
JPEG has no alpha channel. Preview transparent logos, cutouts, and shadows carefully because those pixels must be flattened onto a solid background in the finished file.
JPEG works well for photos and complex color variation. Keep PNG for crisp interface graphics, diagrams, and text-heavy artwork when lossless edges matter more than file size.
JPEG compression is lossy. Keep the original PNG as the master and create each delivery version from it instead of repeatedly editing and re-exporting the JPEG.
Keep the original dimensions and begin around 80 quality. Inspect detailed edges and gradients, then reduce quality gradually if the file is still too large. Resize only when the destination needs fewer pixels.
