How to convert images online

  1. 1. Add your imagesUpload one file or a batch from your device, Google Drive, or Dropbox.
  2. 2. Choose the outputCombine format, dimensions, fit, quality, and metadata settings in one job.
  3. 3. Convert and downloadStart the batch and download the converted images together.

Resize, compress, and convert an image batch in one job

Combine the output format with the transformations the destination needs. FastConvert applies compatible settings in one pass, so you do not have to move the same batch between separate tools.

Standardize product and catalog images
Set one width and height, then use crop, contain, or fit to give mixed portrait and landscape files consistent dimensions without stretching them.
Prepare lighter website assets
Use WebP for broad web delivery or AVIF when smaller photo files matter most. Resize oversized originals and set one quality level across the batch.
Finish compatibility and cleanup work
Rotate or mirror images, trim uniform borders, and keep or remove metadata. Preserve transparency or flatten it onto a solid background when the output requires one.

Choose the output your destination needs

JPG / JPEG: photos for sharing
A practical choice when a client requests JPEG. It uses lossy compression and does not preserve transparency. JPG and JPEG are the same format.
PNG: graphics and transparent edges
Useful for logos, screenshots, and transparency. Files can be larger than photographic formats. Converting a JPEG to PNG cannot recover detail already lost.
WebP: assets for your website
Choose lossy encoding for photos or lossless for graphics and transparent assets. WebP is a useful default for website images when your publishing tool accepts it.
AVIF: compact modern web images
Useful for photo-heavy pages when smaller downloads matter and your publishing tool accepts AVIF. Encoding takes longer than WebP.

One setup for every product image batch

Prepare each new product collection as WebP images at 1,200 pixels wide, then reuse the same setup for the next collection.

  1. Choose WebP, set the width, and keep the aspect ratio. Avoid enlarging small originals.
  2. Set quality and choose whether to keep transparency and metadata, then convert the batch.
  3. Save the settings as an image recipe for the next collection. A free account includes one recipe.

Paid plans add larger batches, more recipes, and delivery to a selected Google Drive or Dropbox folder after you start each batch. Compare the batch limits and cloud delivery plans.

Image Conversion FAQ

Choose the right format, protect image quality, and understand every limit before you upload.

Is the FastConvert image converter free, and does it add a watermark?

Yes. FastConvert has a free, watermark-free plan, and you do not need an account to start converting images. The Free plan includes up to 20 conversions per 24 hours. Paid plans increase the batch, file size, and processing limits.

Which image formats can I upload and convert to?

You can upload JPG or JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, SVG, TIFF, JPEG XL (JXL), JPEG 2000 (JP2), and HEIC or HEIF images. Output formats are JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, TIFF, AVIF, JXL, JP2, and HEIC. SVG and HEIF are input extensions only. HEIF output uses the HEIC extension. Browse the available image conversions.

How do I convert an image online?

Add one or more images from your device, direct public HTTPS file links, Google Drive, or Dropbox. Choose the output format, dimensions, and quality settings to apply across the batch, then select Convert. When processing finishes, download the results. Create a free account to save one recurring setup as a recipe. Paid plans include more recipes and automatic cloud delivery.

Can I batch convert or resize multiple images at once?

Yes. The free plan processes up to 10 images in one batch, Basic up to 20, and Pro up to 50. You can choose settings for each image before starting the batch conversion.

Can I resize and compress an image while converting it?

Yes. You can set a width and height, choose contain, cover, fill, inside, or outside resizing, and convert the format in the same step. Quality and compression controls can reduce file size, but the final size depends on the source image, dimensions, format, and settings. FastConvert does not target an exact output file size.

Will converting an image reduce its quality?

It depends on the output format and settings. JPEG and standard WebP or AVIF conversion are lossy, so lower quality settings usually create smaller files with less detail. PNG is lossless, and FastConvert also offers lossless options for WebP, AVIF, and JPEG XL. Resizing to smaller dimensions permanently removes pixels.

Should I convert my image to JPG, PNG, WebP, or AVIF?

Use JPG for photographs and broad compatibility, PNG for lossless graphics or transparency, and WebP or AVIF when smaller web images are the priority. WebP generally offers wider compatibility, while AVIF can be efficient but may take longer to encode. The best choice depends on where the image will be used.

What is the maximum image file size?

Each image can be up to 10 MB on Free, 30 MB on Basic, or 100 MB on Pro. An image may also be rejected if it exceeds the supported pixel or dimension limits.

Can FastConvert keep or remove image metadata?

Yes. Use the metadata option to preserve supported image metadata in the converted file. Leave it off to avoid deliberately copying metadata such as EXIF information into the output. Some metadata may not be supported by every output format.

Can I convert an image from a URL?

Yes. Choose URL in the upload area and paste one or more direct public HTTPS links to supported image files. URL import is available on every plan, without an account. Your plan’s batch, file size, and conversion limits still apply. Sharing pages and links that require sign-in are not supported; use the Google Drive or Dropbox picker for files from those services.

Can I convert images from Google Drive or Dropbox?

Yes. You can import supported images directly from Google Drive or Dropbox, choose the same conversion and resize options, and download the result when processing is complete.

Does the image converter work on phones, tablets, Mac, Windows, and Linux?

Yes. FastConvert works in a modern web browser on phones, tablets, and desktop computers, so there is no converter app to install. The available upload and download choices can vary with the browser and device.

Are my uploaded images private, and when are they deleted?

Yes. FastConvert temporarily uploads and stores original and converted files for processing and download. Files are kept for 24 hours on Free, 1 week on Basic, or 1 week on Pro, then scheduled for automatic deletion. We do not use uploaded files to train AI models. If you choose a Google Drive or Dropbox import or export, the selected provider receives or supplies the file as part of that request.
